  • Ethan Andrew

So after the Nanny was not able to get Ethan calmed down for nap (she had been able to up until this point) I was concerned.  I know some of you are thinking that perhaps a mother should be able to comfort a child more than a nanny, but you have never met our Ms. Linda.  She is beyond awesome.  Anyway, I called Dr. B to ease my mind on the ear infection possibility.  Ethan had not been tugging at his ears.  I asked Dr. B to tell me something.  Anything.   Why is Ethan only sleeping every hour at one year of age.  Sure enough, one ear is infected and the other has fluid in it.  Not sure what that means..how he got fluid in his ears or how I can remedy that, but we go back in two weeks.    Here is the funny part.  When I asked the pharmacy tech if the antibiotic was nasty tasting she said, "Let me check the YUCK wheel."  I kid you not they have different drugs classified by the yuck factor and what flavors mix best with the medicine to make it less yuck or possibly even yummy.  That just cracks me up.  I am very confident my mother didn't use the YUCK wheel.

Abby has had a little drama of her own. At church on Sunday I was talking to someone and Jeremy had Ethan.  Abby is known by just about everyone there so I wasn't concerned about her walking around in the new lobby by herself.  You know that feeling when you can't find your child for a split second...when your heart just stops?  Mine did.  I just knew she ran into second service and was crying because she couldn't  find us.  Not there.  I sent Jeremy upstairs and sent other people other directions to try to find her.  NO LUCK. Someone heard her screaming, but we couldn't find her.  Aha, the elevator.  She had pushed the elevator button and ironically it opened.  In a almost three year olds mind if a door opens, you go in and that she did.  The problem started when the door closed and she couldn't get it open.  She tried with all of her might to pull the doors open but they wouldn't budge with her little fingers.  Thankfully it didn't go anywhere because she didn't know to push the buttons.  Once we figured it out and had lots of frantic hugs and kisses she was fine and ready for lunch.  :)  I told Dr. B the story and said I bet she will not do it again...and his response was..I bet she will because now the initial fear is gone.  :)

We leave for Branson on Friday and I will post some fun pictures soon!!

  • Open for Suggestions

Ethan is now one year old.  There was a time when he slept through the night but he has progressively gotten worse.  We are now to the point of waking up every 45 minutes.  He has a nightlight, and we play a little soft music, and we even have a sound machine that plays static.  This is how the evening plays out:  dinner, bathtime, bedtime around 8:30...except that he screams nonstop.  He does not wear himself out...but rather screams for long periods of time where he is then hysterical.  We have tried no sounds in his room  - no improvement.  We have tried no light in his room - no improvement.  If I pick him up he will immediately fall alsleep in my arms.  It is almost easier to sleep with him in the rocking chair (which solves nothing but makes Jeremy mad!)  Finally this morning at 4:00AM I put a normal sized pillow (I was grasping for anything to help him) and one of my tshirts in his crib and with a little whimpering out he went.  Out of exhaustion, I am sure.  Tonight we are going to try a little lamp...and see if he is afraid of the dark.  If you have any suggestions I am very open to try most anything.

Thanks in advance to all of you mom's who have gone through this before me.

  • Catching Up...

For the record, her shirt says Daddy Said I can.  She had a blast painting with us.  What I didn't realize was if you paint on the wall fun stuff like a sun shine or our names, it shows up after the regular coat of paint!!!

St. Louis was FREEZING!! Thank you Brian and Robin for letting us stay at your beautiful place!

Look at that grin...he is so cute!!!

So Ethan turned one (I can't figure out why this is underlining everything) and we did a small party at my parents house.  I feel horrible because for Abby it was so different.  We are taking Ethan for his one year pictures this weekend and if we are lucky we will get a fun Christmas picture of them both.  You never know with my two!!

I will post a picture of the sun/play room that Jeremy built.  He is so good at that kind if thing and I love that we have a specific place for their toys!!

    Have a great Thanksgiving!!

Abby is two and is very proud of it!!

Her great grandmother taught her that hats are best when they are BIG!
Can you believe she wanted to touch the teeth of this shark???
Not everyone gets to ride a pink sting ray.  By the way me and Jeremy both got stung by jelly fish while scuba diving.  If you ever wonder if it hurts...YES.
This is our "train" or trolly more commonly known.  Abby love to ride it and begged every day for it. A movie star in the making...
If only Ethan was there.  We missed him.  Thank you Mema and Poppy for keeping Ethan and feeding him so much he gained 10 lbs.  (you guys think I am kidding). I have a new appreciation for those who take wonderful beach pictures.  It is nearly impossible.

    She is so beautiful.

We had so much fun in Destin.
